Begonia bowerae 'jive'
The medium sized leaves are light green with chocolate brown/maroon markings along the leaf margin. The leaf margin is lined with small white hairs. These hairs are what give Begonia bowerae the nickname 'eyelash' begonia. Begonias are forest floor dwellers where they recieve little to no direct light, & high humidity conditions. Prefers organically rich but well draining soil. Let soil dry out between watering to avoid rot and other fungal diseases. No pruning required. Can be pruned by pinching outer stems and growing tips for a bushier appearance. Blooms late winter to early spring. Pink tinged, white blooms rise on delicate stalks. Can be grown outdoors or indoors in hanging baskets and as ground cover. Temps: 50°-85° Excellent for patio and container gardens. Makes a lovely addition to any terrarium with it's striking lime foliage and spiraling leaves. Miniature mounding rhizomatous begonia. Grows 10-12 in. tall, 8-10 in. wide.
